Candle safety & use

We love that you enjoy burning our candles in your home and we are delighted to be part of your everyday rituals. To ensure the most beautiful and considered experience, we recommend following a few essential candle care guidelines. Candles are a naked flame and must be treated with caution and respect.

At ECOYA, safety is considered in every detail. Care instructions are included within your candle vessel, as well as on the base of both the carton and glass. We encourage you to read these instructions before lighting so you can enjoy your candle safely and as intended.

Trim the wick before each burn, including the first.

For best performance, keep the wick trimmed to approximately 6mm. This ensures a clean, even burn and helps maintain the integrity of the fragrance. If the wick is left too long, it may 'mushroom', creating excess soot and heat. This can cause the candle to burn more quickly, reducing overall burn time.

Burn your candle for no longer than three hours at a time.

Our candles are poured into vessels made from annealed soda lime silicate glass, designed specifically for candle use. Burning your candle for longer than the recommended period may cause the vessel to become hot to the touch, increasing the risk of injury.

Discontinue use when approximately 10mm (1cm) of wax remains.

Our wicks are designed to self-extinguish at approximately 10mm. However, if the candle has been burning for an extended period, the wick may grow larger and generate more heat, causing the wax to burn faster. In these instances, the heat may surpass the crimping in the wick, increasing the risk of the vessel overheating and breaking.

Always burn your candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface, away from draughts or items that can catch alight. If burning more than one candle at a time, space them approximately 100mm (10cm) apart. Never leave a burning candle unattended or near children or pets.

Tips & tricks for wicks and wax

There are a few simple techniques to help you get the most from your ECOYA candle.

Burn for a minimum of one hour, or until the wax pool reaches the edge of the vessel.

Allowing the wax to melt fully to the edge prevents tunnelling, ensuring future burns remain even and maximising burn time.

To extinguish your candle, use a snuffer or blow it out gently. This helps prevent black soot particles from settling into the wax. Do not use liquid or the lid to extinguish your candle. The lid is not a snuffer.

Re-using your ECOYA candle

Once your candle is finished, the glass vessel can be thoughtfully repurposed.

Remove any remaining wax with warm soapy water. Avoid abrasive materials when cleaning as they may scratch the glass. The empty vessel can be reused as a vase, makeup brush holder, storage for beauty essentials, cotton buds or kitchen utensils.

Diffuser safety & use

ECOYA diffusers are designed to fragrance your space through reed sticks, gently diffusing scent throughout the room. As with all ECOYA products, safety is carefully considered, so it is important to follow the instructions below for safe use and optimal fragrance performance. All ECOYA fragrances are phthalate free.

Please note these instructions apply to both ECOYA and Kinship by ECOYA diffusers.

Instructions for use

Remove the black stopper from the vessel and insert the reeds into the decanter. The reeds will absorb the fragrance oil and gently scent your room. Avoid placing your diffuser in direct sunlight or draughty areas, as this may reduce performance. Wipe dust from reeds occasionally with a soft damp cloth to maintain fragrance diffusion.

• Keep away from heat, flames, children and pets.
• Do not swallow. If ingestion occurs, rinse mouth with water and seek medical advice.
• Avoid contact with skin, furniture, fabrics, finished wood or enamel surfaces. If contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with soap and water.
• Liquid may cause skin irritation or an allergic reaction.
• Causes serious eye irritation.
• If skin irritation or rash occurs, seek medical advice.
• If liquid comes into contact with eyes, rinse with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses if present and continue rinsing. If irritation persists, seek medical advice.

Bodycare safety & use

ECOYA Bodycare is enriched with botanical oils to nourish the skin and provide long-lasting fragrance. Formulated with macadamia, coconut and almond oils, and enriched with Vitamin E, our bodycare products are free from parabens, propylene glycol, silicone and artificial colours. All ECOYA fragrances are phthalate free.

Important notes for use

Please read the ingredient list carefully if you have allergies. Avoid contact with eyes and discontinue use if irritation occurs. We recommend patch testing before use. Store below 30°C.

Plug-In Diffuser safety & use

Our latest innovation in home fragrance, the ECOYA Plug-In Diffuser offers a simple and continuous fragrance experience. Plug your diffuser into any wall socket and enjoy your favourite ECOYA fragrance for up to 700 hours.

Instructions for use

Ensure you have purchased an ECOYA Fragrance Flask. Remove the lid from the flask and insert it into the base of the Plug-In Diffuser until you hear a click. Plug into a wall socket and switch on power. Use only as directed in well-ventilated areas.

Safety instructions

• Do not use in small, confined pet areas without adequate ventilation.
• Not recommended for use in babies' rooms.
• Always switch off at the socket before removing or inserting the fragrance flask.
• Keep the unit upright at all times.
• Do not place where the diffuser may be knocked or damaged.
• If the unit becomes damaged, switch power off at the socket before removal.
• Do not attempt to repair or alter the unit.
• Do not obstruct airflow from the diffuser.
• Do not operate with wet hands or metal objects.
• Do not use with extension cords or multi-plug adapters.
• Do not use continuously. Operate for a maximum of 6 hours at a time.
• Do not place near heat sources or in direct sunlight.
• To clean, unplug and wipe with a dry cloth.
• Use only ECOYA Plug-In Fragrance Flasks with the ECOYA Plug-In Diffuser. Using other refills may create toxic or fire risk.

Plug-In Diffuser Fragrance Flask safety & use

Electric Wax Melter safety & use

Instructions for use

• Ensure your ECOYA Electric Wax Melter is connected to power and switch it on.
• Place the Soy Wax Melt into the dish at the top of the warmer. The gentle warmth will gradually melt the wax, releasing its fragrance throughout the room.
• Always position the Electric Wax Melter on a stable, heat-resistant surface and avoid drafts.
• To replace the melt, after 30 hours, allow the wax to cool and solidify before discarding. Then insert a new melt and enjoy continuous fragrance. No flame required – just plug in and fragrance your space.

• Do not immerse in water. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
• This product must be used exclusively with a 3A-rated adapter; failure to do so may result in operational malfunctions.
• Avoid drafts and always burn on a stable, heat-resistant surface.
• The Electric Wax Melter may become hot when melting. Do not move whilst in use.
• Switch off and unplug Electrical Wax Melter when not in use or before cleaning.
  
• Do not cover during use.
• Do not immerse in water.
• Keep out of reach of children and pets.
• The Electrical Wax Melter becomes hot while in use. Do not allow hot plate and ceramic dish to come in contact with skin.
• Do not move the unit while in use.
• Do not allow cord to hang over edge of table or counter to avoid tripping.
• Use only as directed in well-ventilated areas.
• Always use the Electric Wax Melter on a stable, heat-resistant surface and avoid drafts.
• Do not operate with wet hands.
